If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original. Applicants are required to submit an official Hungarian translation of their BA diploma until 31 March. English translations are accepted during the application period, but a Hungarian translation must be submitted by 31 March. Hungarian translations have to be done based on the original document and NOT copies of the original document. Translations made based on copies of certificates are NOT accepted. Overview
Program description:
Conductors completing the master program will have been prepared to conduct orchestras. The program offers the specialisation degree ‘Orchestra Conductor’. The majority of the knowledge to be acquired of course concerns the field of orchestra and its repertoire, practical use, and knowledge to create new ensembles and conduct various types of orchestras. A comprehensive music education complements all knowledge acquired to prepare students for serving and spreading Hungarian and general musical culture.Conductors are able to rehearse and bring to life scores of orchestral, oratorical, chamber music and opera pieces in a clear and well-formed manner according to the composers way of thinking. Conductors play an important role in interpreting and endearing composers pieces to the audience with the help of their solid technical and musical skills, vivid imagination, and visualizing force. Their job often covers managing or supporting the activities of orchestras, various music ensembles, or even cultural centers. Their profession can partly include the following activities: active and useful participation in shaping public life in music, common musical knowledge, and musical culture.
Selection process:
Applicants for full-time studies in Orchestra Conducting are first evaluated based on the portfolio they uploaded in the application system (recording of three works performed by the applicant).
The entrance examinations for all courses at the Liszt Academy of Music take place at the end of June and at the beginning of July. Scholarship applicants whose submitted musical portfolio (recording of three works performed by the applicant) has passed the pre-screening evaluation are informed about the exact date of their entrance examination during May. The entrance examinations take place at the Liszt Academy of Music, in Budapest, Hungary. All applicants are required to appear before the Entrance Examination Committe in person for the examinations. Live streaming, video streaming, DVDs, CDs, or any other recordings are not accepted as a substitute. Applicants are informed about the result of the entrance examinations in July.
Entry requirements: Applicants are to take a practical examination in their chosen specialisation (live audition), and theoretical examination (written examination).
