Áttekintés

The aim of the Applied Mathematics master program is to train professionals
who have a well-grounded mathematical and informational knowledge in a
theoretically. They are able to gain knowledge in industrial, commercial,
agricultural, logistics, communication, finance and computer science issues to be
used for analysis, modelling and finding a solution for them. Furthermore, the
best ones are able to keep going on in doctoral level training and deepen their
skills and knowledge.

Entry requirements
- Defined BSc degree
- Transcript of studies
- Minimally CEFR B2 level language exam certificate
- Europass CV in English
- Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) in 3000 to 3500 characters.
- Copy of valid passport

Additional documents to be submitted in English/officially attested English translation:
- medical certificate
- chest X-ray (doctor’s note, not the image, and not older than 1 year)
- vaccination card (showing that you are immunized against HEP B and C) OR serology results for Hep B and C
- HIV test result (not older than 3 months)

Entrance exam description:
Making a 100-point ranking out of the admission requirements. 50 point could be given for the basic previous academic achievement and the other 50 point could be reached for the oral entrance exam.

Programstruktúra

Altogether 120 credits are required to obtain a degree. Out of the 120 credits,
obligatory courses take 60% of it. Elective courses and Facultative courses take
out the rest of it. Approximately 20 credits of elective ones and 6 credits of
Facultative (Optional) ones. Thesis consultation and Thesis writing worths
another 30 credits and it is combined into the curriculum. From the third year, it
is required to choose a speciality.

At the Faculty of Sciences, the education is provided in a system of seminars,
laboratoris and lectures. Lectures are held for bigger audiences, sometimes
combined for similar sciences field together. At the end of the semester students
have to pass written or oral examinations. Seminars are usually more informal
study groups for a smaler group of students, where there is room for individual
consultation, discussion of the material and solving exercises. They usually
conclude with an independently written paper or an examination.

The grading system generally used by Hungarian higher education institutions is
the following:

•The highest grade is 5 excellent.
•Grade 4 is good.
•Grade 3 is satisfactory.
•Grade 2 is a pass.
•Grade 1 is a fail – the course must be repeated.

The minimum amount of credits to be collected in every semester is 18.
