Program description:
The purpose of the programme is to train veterinarians who are aware of and able to use the latest innovations of veterinary science, and who are well informed about the specialist and interdisciplinary subjects that are needed for their professional life. They are able to identify, prevent and cure illnesses of animals, to assist with epidemical problems and to inspect and maintain food hygiene security. They efficiently participate in the animal environment and nature protection matters, and in the duties concerning fish farms and the wildlife. They are prepared to continue their studies at the doctoral programme.

Entrance exam description:
After the University reviews the application materials and determines that the applicant appears qualified and potentially able to complete the program, arrangements for an entrance examination (written multiple choice test + oral interview) will be made. The examination will test competency in the English language also in relation to the academic subjects, which are Biology and Chemistry.

Programstruktúra

The curriculum is divided into a preclinical and a clinical-paraclinical period.

1. Pre-clinical Period (2 years)

The main subjects are Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Biology, Chemistry, Biophysics, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biomathematics, and Computer Applications. Languages can be chosen as electives.

The preclinical period also contains a farm practicum in animal husbandry.


2. Clinical-paraclinical Period (3,5 years)

Paraclinical subjects: Animal Breeding and Husbandry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Immunology, Microbiology, Virology, Pathophysiology, Parasitology, Epizootiology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Hygiene, Food Hygiene, State Veterinary Medicine and Economics, and Forensic Veterinary Medicine.

Parallel to these, the student has a large number of weekly clinical hours in Veterinary
Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, Obstetrics and Animal Reproduction.

The clinical-paraclinical period includes several extramural practicums.
