PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

120 ECTS

Learn about quantum technologies – learn about the driving force of the future.

In the coming years, quantum-based measuring instruments, computers, and quantum electronic devices are expected to be widely adopted. Although modern information technology tools (integrated circuits, lasers) already operate based on the principles of quantum mechanics, in the following decades, knowledge of quantum mechanics will be indispensable in designing automotive instruments, the pharmaceutical industry, chip design, medical device design, and programming artificial intelligence algorithms.

The program is specifically designed as an engineering discipline. Although it aims primarily to train industrial research and development professionals with higher mathematical, physical, and computational knowledge than standard engineering programs, students with a background in physics are also welcome.

The study program is primarily project-based. Students can emphasize theoretical, software design, or experimental knowledge based on their preferences.

Welcome to a program that propels you into the forefront of modern quantum engineering.

Tailored Engineering Education Program

At the heart of our program is a project-based approach, which provides students with the flexibility to accentuate their learning experience based on individual preferences. Whether one leans towards theoretical exploration, software design proficiency, or hands-on experimental knowledge, our program empowers students to shape their educational journey in alignment with their aspirations.

The program unfolds over a duration of 1+4 semesters (1 foundation semester + 4 semesters), providing a comprehensive and structured educational experience.

FOUNDATION SEMESTER

International students must attend a Foundation Semester in the fall semester, before starting the actual Master’s program. Thus, the actual commencement of the Master’s program is February.
The goal of the foundation semester is to level students for their Master’s program in Budapest, helping to ensure that they can complete their studies successfully.
The foundation semester helps students to recap, develop, and upgrade the Bachelor-level skills needed to succeed in their Master’s program.

Students may only start the four-semester Master’s program upon successful completion of the Foundation Semester.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum of the study program (120 credits) comprises the following modules:

- Fundamentals in Natural Sciences and Mathematics (requirements for diploma: 34 credits)
- Economics and Humanities (requirements for diploma: 8 credits)
- Skills in Engineering (requirements for diploma: 42 credits)
- Project Work and Thesis Work (requirements for diploma: 30 credits)
- Other elective subjects (maximum 6 credits)

SPECIALIZATION

Currently, there are no specializations in this study programme.
