Overview

Program description:
The aim of the Industrial Design Engineering BSc education is to train industrial product and design engineers capable to design, manufacture and distribute industrial products, particularly within an SME framework. Graduate industrial product and design engineers are technical specialists who are out-of-the-box thinkers and primarily design, manufacture and distribute durable consumer products and articles for personal use. In possession of their knowledge and skills of technology, aesthetics, humanities, and economics, they are able to carry out independent creative work in each phase of product development; they also know the innovation process of product development, as well as the material, organizational and human resources required for product development; and they are capable to manage product lifetime cycles. They are prepared to continue their studies at a Masters course.

Entry requirements:
G.C.E. or any equivalent secondary high school diploma. Minimum Language Test Scores 5.0 IELTS/ 65 TOEFL iBT/ 183 TOEFL CBT/ 513 TOEFL PBT/ FCE. Portfolio of works (drawing, paintings, photos) The portfolio of works needs to be uploaded in one file (.zip, .pdf, .jpg). Single file uploads of portfolio works will not be accepted!)

Entrance exam description:

The topics of the placements tests of Mathematics and Physics are available at the institutional website (uni-obuda.hu/en/node/19620) as well as some Tests with Solving Keys from previous years to help to prepare for your ones.
Both English language skills and personal motivation will be examined by Skype interview.

Physical education: Each regular student is required to complete two semesters of Physical education. The subject is announced in semesters 2 and 3 in the model curriculum, with a load of 2 lessons per week.

Subjects to be completed in a foreign language: Each regular student participating in a bachelors training course in Hungarian is required to enroll into two professional courses offered by the university in English or German as criteria subjects, and to complete the respective testing required.
Professional traineeship of at least six weeks, organized at a location of professional practice. Professional traineeship is included in the criteria prescribed.

Criteria for admission to a final examination:
a) Final completion certificate (absolutorium) granted,
b) Thesis accepted by supervisor.

Description of the Hungarian grading system:
5 – Excellent – outstanding performance with only minor errors
4 – Good – generally sound work with a number of notable errors
3 – Satisfactory – fair but with significant shortcomings
2 – Sufficient – performance meets the minimum criteria
1 – Fail – considerable further work is required

Evaluation methods beyond the scope of the university regulations described above are at the lecturer’s discretion. The list is long, but the most common ones are
● mid-term and end-of-term written tests,
● project works,
● reports,
● mini-lectures,
● homeworks,
● oral presentations, etc.,
or any combination of them. There are no fixed percentage categories for different grades, but most commonly 50% is required for a pass. Normally, one retake is offered for a missed assignment. Term-time requirements with course syllabi, as well as dates and deadlines are listed in a document by the lecturer, and made public on the faculty website before the start of the semester.
