Overview
Program description:
This MA programme is designed to provide students with a wide knowledge of playing musical instruments. Basic theoretical subjects such as literature, prosody, history of art, stylistics, music history, folk music, composition theory, concert visiting, composition practice and analysis are introduced to students. Applied subjects such as chamber music and choir practice are also provided during the programme in addition to other fields, depending on the specialisation. Rigorous coursework develops abilities of playing musical instruments solo, in an orchestra or chamber group. Graduates of the Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts choose their careers in orchestras, in chamber groups, or as solo artist.
Entrance exam description – Demo recording:
• 2 Etudes by Paganini
• 1 fugue or chaccones by Bach
• 1 major movement of a concerto
• 1 performance piece freely chosen
All pieces must be performed from memory.
