Short description
The master’s degree prepares you for a high-level of intellectual activity and scientific careers. For those who want to work after completing their training, the media and communications industry offers a wide range of employment opportunities. The training also prepares you to continue your studies at the doctoral level.

Those who choose the specialization in communication and media studies will become professionals with a thorough social science background, who will orient themselves in the medialization processes that can be considered a crucial issue of contemporary social phenomena, research and teach them independently as lecturers or researchers.

The communication and media specialist specialization trains professionals with a social and humanities background and practical skills who work in various fields of the contemporary media and communication industry as leaders, editors, programmers, international project managers, communication experts, media consultants, specialist journalists.

The cultural journalism specialization gives future professionals both a rigorous intellectual foundation for practicing cultural journalism and hands-on practical training in diverse genres and both traditional and innovative medial variants. The theoretical and historical framework for the practical training will highlight the politics of representation and access as well as the contemporary cultural functions of criticism.

Applicants for the Communication and Media Studies MA graduate in a field of study with two specializations (Media Cultural Journalism and Digital Business Communication) that enables them to enter some of the subfields in EU Nomenclature of Creative Industries (Books, Newspapers and magazines, Music, Performing arts, TV, Film, Radio, Video games, Visual arts, Architecture, Advertising) and completing the program will allows you to enter almost all of them.

Strenght of programme
If you are preparing for a career in social sciences or humanities, ELTE guarantees the scientific quality through the scientific training and performance of its lecturers, its international relations and the system of education based on personal consultations, which greatly supports scientific work. The simplest first step on the road to an international scientific career is ELTE Media.

On the other hand, if you see yourself as an online content developer, marketer or PR, cultural entrepreneur, employee of an international organization or start-up in five years, you can achieve this through practical courses and craft classes advertised for BA undergraduates and media specializations. Dozens of young former ELTE Media students teach in the media majors as lecturers, educating students as professionals in the creative industry.

Entrance exam description:
The application documents are processed by the Department of International Affairs and then forwarded to the department responsible for the given degree programme. The department checks the documents and organizes an interview by telephone, online (e.g. Skype) or in person. After the entrance interview, the department comes to a decision and informs the Department of International Affairs.

The entrance exam contains a discussion about the motivation of the applicant. Successful applicants must have a good command of English to pass the entrance exam. The entrance exam can be taken in person or via Skype. Ranking is based on the overall evaluation of academic excellence (based on the submitted documents) and the results of the entrance exam.
